What’s an OER?
The Education- and Exam Regulation (OER) is the formal contract between students and their study regarding all parts of the education process, and it is written in Dutch at this point in time. The rights and duties of all parties are mentioned in detail, when a conflict arrises the OER can be used as the basis for a ruling by for instance the exam committee.
Also appointments for reviewing exam results, rules regarding retakes and much more is mentioned in the OER.
The OER follows from the WHW (Dutch law on Higher education and scientific research)
Current OER
Each education has its own OER, which is reinstated every academic year. It consists of a description of the courses and also describes all organizational matters. You can find the OER for Sociology at the UvA for this academic year below. OER’s of previous years can be found on our download page.

Yearly reinstatement
The OER will be renewed every year by the Dean of the faculty after consultation with the education committee and after the approval of the Student Council of the Faculty of Social & Behavioral Sciences (FSR -FMG). If you have comments or complaints about the OER please let us know!
Viewing exams
Until a month after the announcement of your grades you can view the exam results and the comments by your professor. Some instate specific hours for students to view their exams, announced often times through Blackboard. If this is not the case, you can e-mail of call for an appointment to view the exam questions, your answers and grade comments made by your professor.
Review terms
Exams have to be graded within 20 working days. If this becomes impossible for the examiner than they can deviate from this rule, but have to inform students of this delay as soon as possible. If reviewing takes longer than expected, please e-mail us!
Retakes
Usually exams are offered twice a year (the first regular exam and one re-sit). For some modules more exams are planned per year, but for each module a student can only take an exam twice a year.
