If you are unable to reach a satisfactory agreement with a teacher or if you don’t know where to voice your complaints, please see the official UvA complaints page. Below are a few suggestions:

Exam committee
You can contact the exam committee about complaints regarding the organization of exams or grading.
They always hear both parties and aim to resolve problems to the satisfaction of both parties. Complaints have to be put in writing. Also always contact the exam committee personally as soon as possible through your study advisor. Please also see this page dedicated to the exam committee.

Ombudsman UvA
Every student at the UvA with a complaint about the university, a faculty or an institute or (educational) staff thereof can contact the Ombudsman UvA. The ombudsman works as an independent person within the UvA organization and can also be contacted in case of unresolved or unsatisfactory complaint procedures within other parts of the institution. Complaints can be regarding the implementation of the student statute, the organization or quality of education, but also regarding the accessibility of university facilities. The work of the ombudsman is always fully confidential, to protect the privacy of all parties involved. The ombudsman, mw. mr. M.C. (Christel) Holtrop, can be contacted each week on monday, tuesday and wednesday from 9.00 till 13.00, phone number 020 – 525 3798, address:
